About me
Hello! My name is Helen Clark and I can help you with all things grants fundraising.
I have been working in the not for profit sector for nineteen years. Previous employers include Mencap, Kids and Family and Childcare Trust. A key element of all my roles has been raising income from trusts and foundations, lottery and statutory sources. I am a full member of the Institute of Fundraising.
I begun fundraising in a freelance capacity in the summer of 2015. So far clients have included disability, family, young people, older people, arts, museum and heritage sector organisations and schools. As a freelancer I have:

-
Raised £3.4 million for new projects, capital appeals, strategic development and core functions

-
Enjoyed a 64% success rate across grant applications submitted for over £10k

-
Achieved successful applications for multiple clients including from BBC Children in Need, the City Bridge Trust, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, National Lottery Community Fund Reaching Communities (national and London), National Lottery Community Fund Improving Lives (Scotland), Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Young Londoner's Fund.

I am particularly (but not exclusively) interested in working with organisations with little or no dedicated grants fundraising function as this is where I feel I can add most value.

Testimonials
"Helen has huge fundraising expertise. She very quickly gets her head around what your organisation wants to do and her knowledge and creative thinking enables her to map this to potential sources of funding. This insight has been invaluable to me as a trustee of two small charities. She is a great communicator, strategic thinker and brings real passion and integrity to her work." Angela Style, Chair at Endometriosis UK

"Helen is a delightful and highly professional team member who has extensive fundraising experience. She brings practical and thoughtful insight to the project development stage, and asks good, challenging questions which strengthen the process of writing an application. As a freelancer, she has worked for us both on a long-term contract, managing our trusts and foundations programme, and on more ad hoc projects, raising income from a range of funders including Trust for London and Awards for All." Sarah Jackson, Chief Executive, Working Families

"Helen has a great eye for detail and a dedicated focus on quality and best practice. She has the ability to quickly grasp what's needed, advising on the best approach and producing proposals of a very high standard. Helen was key to our successful application to the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and securing this funding will enable Circle Community to sustain and expand its service. She is highly professional and an absolute pleasure to work with." Vicky Morgan, Business and Operations Lead, Circle Community

"Helen has worked as an Associate on a number of contracts for us, including for Evidence Aid, Swindon Museum and Art Gallery and Pestival. Her work is always of an exceptional standard. Recent assignments include providing clear and detailed prospect research, crafting and producing high quality proposals, and developing appropriate strategies to maximise income and reduce risks to the organisation. She has a genuine warmth of character and quickly builds trust, managing relationships with great care and professionalism, resulting in very happy clients! " Jonathan Rennison, Director, The Yellow Chair
